Rick "Arby" Mattson, Maj Gen, USAF (ret)
Chief Executive Officer / Co-Owner BVIRick Mattson is a retired 2-star General who served for 36 years in the United States Air Force. He deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan 8 times, served as the senior ranking military official at both US Embassy Kuwait (3 years) and US Embassy Pakistan (1 1/2 years), and conducted major military operations throughout the CENTCOM area of responsibility as Director of Exercises and Training for 21 countries spanning over 3 continents and 4 million square miles. Rick is a combat pilot with over 2,900 hours of flying time in F-4, F-5, F-16, and A-10 fighter and attack aircraft. In addition, he performed numerous ground combat missions in support of Counter Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) as well as nation-building operations across the Middle East.
In addition to being a command pilot and instructor, he is a graduate of the US Army Airborne school in Ft Benning, GA, Military Free Fall school in Yuma, AZ, and the Joint Military Attache School in Washington DC. He led, served with, and served for the greatest shooters, operators, fighter pilots, diplomats, agents, analysts, Ambassadors, and commanders at the highest and most basic of levels in numerous critical operations throughout our nation’s most volatile and challenging regions. He holds a BA from Pacific Lutheran University and an MA from Duke University.
Rick enjoys all firearm disciplines, but is most focused on Long Range and Extreme Long Range (ELR) precision shooting. He is also an avid reloader and currently reloads 8 different calibers, from 9mm through .416 Barrett. He has been married for 28 years and has 3 children. His wife, Vanita, is a former military combat pilot who flew C-21 and KC-135 aircraft on Active Duty and in the Air National Guard, and is a decorated Air Force expert marksman. She is currently a B-787 pilot with a major commercial airline.
Rick is a passionate shooter who loves spending time with his family on and off the range. His dedication to making Bone Valley Industries a welcoming and safe place for everyone in the community is second only to his commitment to following the Lord and embodying the philosophy of Isaiah 6:8: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I; send me!’

Dan Q Pham, P.E.
Chief Engineering Officer / Co-Owner BVIDan is a licensed professional engineer and multi-disciplinary expert with over 30 years of experience in the fields of land development engineering and site planning. In addition to his consulting work, Dan’s expertise extends into aviation design of remote piloted aircraft, remote piloting operations, and training simulations; he is an early Part 333 exemption holder with over 1,000 hours of piloting experience operating Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) for in-scale rotor-wing, fixed-wing, and multi-rotor aircraft.
Dan has been instrumental in the manufacturing support and development of products across multiple industries, including civil and traffic engineering, theme park entertainment/cinema, law enforcement, and airworthiness equipment certifications. He has extensive experience working both private and public sector projects throughout central and south Florida, including multiple successful high-visibility projects for the Florida Department of Transportation. Dan currently serves as an operator, R&D developer, and subject matter expert in airborne engineering inspections/operations for a well-known attraction/entertainment conglomerate in the central Florida area.
Although Dan’s passion and proficiencies lie in Open Gym Pistol and Rifle, his true calling is to carry the Bone Valley Industries mission forward, spreading this mission to future generations and members. Dan is a loving father dedicated to instilling Christian values in his two sons and a devoted husband to his wife, who is a skin cancer surgeon with a practice in Lakeland. Amongst his professional and personal accolades, Dan is a dedicated Christian and focuses himself on the Lord in every aspect of his life.
James Hood

James Hood brings with him over 25 years of proven expertise in sales and marketing. Throughout his career, he has distinguished himself as a strategic leader and team builder, known for developing high-performing groups that consistently deliver results.
Currently, James leads 10 teams within a multi-billion-dollar software organization, where he focuses on driving growth, fostering collaboration, and building a culture of excellence. His ability to align strategy with execution has been instrumental in scaling operations and mentoring the next generation of leaders.
At Bone Valley Range, James applies the same principles of leadership and vision—helping create not just a premier training facility, but a thriving community built on professionalism, accountability, and shared values.
James is a devoted husband of 21 years, proud father of two, and a man of deep faith. Grateful for the blessings in his life and the opportunities before him, James seeks to honor the Lord in all that he does. With a heart for community, he is committed to bringing the timeless Judeo-Christian values that helped shape this nation into the fabric of the community he serves at Bone Valley

Chief Operating Officer / Co-Owner BVIEric Roscher is an Air Force Special Warfare combat veteran who served as a Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) from 2008 to 2019. During his service, he deployed to Afghanistan in 2010–2011 and again in 2012, gaining extensive experience in combat operations and joint force integration.
After transitioning from active duty, he began sharing his expertise with the civilian sector in 2018 by leading firearm training courses. From 2020 to 2023, he served as Head Range Officer and Lead Shooting Instructor at JTAC Ranch, where he oversaw range operations and curriculum development. He is also the founder & owner of Barrel and Hatchet Trade Group, a training company dedicated to spreading a message of hope in Jesus & building the next generation of modern shooters, and the host of Hatchet Cast, a firearms and preparedness-focused YouTube channel. He is also the host of the Hatchet Cast Podcast on Spotify that covers current events, strange conspiracies and topics regarding the Bible and how to apply scripture to your life as a warrior.
As a lifelong professional student of the craft, Eric has instructed civilians, law enforcement, and military personnel alike. He believes that effective teaching requires humility, constant growth, and the willingness to keep learning.
Beyond his professional life, Eric has been married to his wife for over 15 years and is a proud father of two children. A graduate of the Shepherd School, he has been trained in Christian leadership and applies those principles both personally and professionally. He is a strong Christian, and his faith in God serves as the guiding principle in his life, his family, and his leadership.
At Bone Valley Industries, he serves as Chief Operating Officer and Lead Instructor, responsible for shaping the training curriculum and ensuring that every member receives high-quality, practical instruction rooted in practical application. He also works closely with the leadership team toward the unified vision of creating a facility that builds community, strengthens families and brings the hope found in Jesus to the modern day warrior.
